UAZ Patriot (UAZ-3163) — four-wheel drive five-door off-road vehicle of a frame design. It has been mass-produced since 2005, in 2014 it underwent restyling, and in 2016 it was updated for the second time.
The visual differences of the updated Patriot come down to different headlights with LED daytime running lights and a new grille with coarse mesh, an enlarged emblem and two chrome lines at the bottom and top. The side mirrors are painted in body color and are equipped with LED turn signal indicators. In addition, the car received wear-resistant fog lights with glass diffusers. Depending on the configuration, the SUV can be equipped with wheels with 16″ steel rims or 16″ or 18″ alloy wheels.
Inside, a completely new instrument panel and steering wheel are now three-spoke and multifunctional. In addition to this, the touch screen of the media system is located on the same level as the instrument cluster, which is now framed with chrome trim and white backlighting. The control unit for the heating and air conditioning system has moved to the center of the console, and a pocket for a phone or smartphone and small items has been added at the bottom.
On the updated UAZ Patriot, leather trim is available, the central part of which, together with the headrests, is made of perforated genuine leather. In addition to the seats, leather upholstery, depending on the equipment, extends to the steering wheel, gear lever knob and newly designed parking brake lever knob.
The new steering wheel is adjustable not only in terms of tilt, but also in terms of reach, and the steering column switches received the function of a three-time lane change signal, control of the on-board computer and adjustment of the wiper pause.

To ensure safety on the second row, the UAZ Patriot has 3-point rear seat belts, L-shaped head restraints and the ISOFIX child seat safety system.
In addition, UAZ introduced structural changes to improve passive safety: longitudinal reinforcement of the floor frame, additional brackets for attaching the body to the frame, reinforcement of the A-pillar of the sidewall, and an energy-absorbing folding steering column of a new design. For the first time, an extended active safety system based on the ESP system (in combination with the ABS anti-lock system and the EBD brake force distribution system) began to be installed on the UAZ Patriot.
For easier and safer parking, the UAZ Patriot is equipped with a rear-view camera and parking sensors. In addition to the rear sensors, the updated cars now have front parking sensors. They can be switched on and off separately using a button on the central tunnel.
The rear view camera automatically starts working when reverse gear is engaged. In the updated Patriot, thanks to the steering wheel sensor, the image from the rear view camera is now complemented by dynamic lines. The color display shows the view from the rear view camera and a schematic representation of the operation of 4 rear and 2 extreme front (on the left and right sides) parking sensors, as well as the distance to the obstacle. In the list of options: heated front and rear seats, mirrors, as well as a steering wheel, a programmable preheater and single-zone climate control. For second-row passengers, a second interior heater with a separate fan and adjustable air vents can be installed.

UAZ Patriot is equipped with a 5-speed “mechanics” and a ZMZ-40906 engine. This is a gasoline engine with a volume of 2.7 liters and a power of 134.6 hp. (torque 217 Nm at 3900 rpm). Hard-wired all-wheel drive is carried out using a Dymos transfer case with a reduction gear ratio of 2.542. Starting in 2016, an electronically controlled rear axle differential lock became available for the SUV. It can be installed on any configuration and is activated by pressing a button in the cabin.
The updated version of the model received a ZMZ 409051 gasoline engine. The 2.7-liter unit develops 150 hp. and 235 Nm. In combination with a 5-speed manual transmission “according to the passport”, it consumes 14 l / 100 km in urban mode and 11.5 l / 100 km in the extra-urban cycle.
UAZ Patriot is produced at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant in Russia.
